Far from home on deployment since early July, this photo was taken by a fellow Marine, and it came straight to my ‘mother’s heart’ like the warmth of the sun.
Just a glimpse.. Oh, I recognize the gait, the stature, the shape of the one on the right.
That’s our TJ.
Our youngest son.
What joy a glimpse brings… A momentary or partial view surrounded by the beauty of our Lord’s creation of Light. Joy that he belongs to us, and the opportunity to see him in action. Not within reach to touch – only to see from afar for a few more months.
I love visual parallels. Seeing this photo reminds me of a constant prayer for our son…
“He who dwells in the shelter of the
Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, My refuge
and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.”
Psalm 91: 1-2
In the backdrop of that huge plane and the bright sunlight walks three young Marines.
Look closer…
can you see yourself?
That can be you; resting in the Shadow of the Almighty. You- protected in the shelter of the Most High while you go about your daily duty.
Walk about in a position of peace, in a place of refuge, trusting Him. The privileged joy that you belong to the Almighty. He is your Father. Grab onto the joy that a glimpse brings. Make it more than a momentary or partial view.
His peace awaits.
