Ararat (Ben Walker #1)
Christopher Golden

When a newly engaged couple climbs Mount Ararat in Turkey, after an earthquake reveals a cave where none should exist, an avalanche forces them to seek shelter from the snow fall. Turns out the cave is exactly what they had hoped, a ship. An archaeological find that could prove the reality of the Great Flood and Noah’s Ark.

After a team of scholars, archaeologists, and filmmakers make the journey to the ark, they discover a coffin, and inside, an ugly misshapen creature with horns – not the holy man they expected. Soon, a blizzard blows in, trapping them in that cave thousands of meters up the side of a remote mountain…but they are not alone. What this diverse group of experts discover challenges everything they believe. There is an evil that cannot die and cannot be deterred. One that doesn’t care what humans believe.

This book chilled me to the bone at times. The plot was unique and frightening and I thought more than once that I could be reading a book about Indiana Jones… with archaeological digs, survival of the fittest type stuff. But it was unnerving!
